Facebook already know what you like

There are different kinds of advertising on Facebook. It can either be pages that you can "like" or the kind of advertisement that appear on the left side on your home wall. The products or services differ depending on what kind of information you give out. So the advertisement that is displayed is selected to fit you. These kinds of products and services are definitely global, even though they differ between the users on Facebook. A lot of the products that appear on my home wall are usually international. After I changed my location on where i was living, some of the advertisements changed from Norwegian to Australian. Also, a lot of the pages that I have liked on Facebook involve training and health considerations. After I did this, most of the advertisement on the left side on the home wall, became about training. But it is also said in the readings that the government is approaching people to eat healthier through advertisement (Atkins, 2001)

A lot of this kind of advertisement flout through the network, selective trying to approach their audience by already knowing what they like. Because Facebook has gotten this kind of power to do so. It benefits them, as well as us if we actually find this kind of advertisement useful.

  1. The way Facebook targets ads is based on all the information you provide according to your Hey Kimia, I like your blog! From my analysis, Facebook Profile information: Your age, location, education, relationship status and much more are available to advertisers that can access to aggregate data and reach the right audience. But what happen when you don't like or share anything? Facebook use your friends to fill the gap. That's all about new technology which enables us to have more options on online networks. I think that Facebook will continue to add and/or create more options, making it a complete social network due to competition with Tweeter, Instagram, hi5.. Meanwhile, Let's wait. :)
